PAT Testing is the term now generally recognised as a method of checking the electrical integrity (Safety) of an appliance. It should actually be pronounced PA Testing or PAT. We test to the standards set out in the IEE Code of Practice for In - service Inspection of Electrical equipment (3rd Edition). Qualified to City & Guilds 2377.
We ensure that the following checks are made on each of your appliances.
1. Formal Visual Inspection.
2. Earth Bond test to at least 1.5 x the fuse rating up to 25Amp * (Class 1 Appliance)
3. Insulation Resistance Test to a minimum of 500Volts dc.*
4. Current Leakage Test to outer casing.
Extension Leads and computer IEC Leads.
1. Formal Visual Inspection.
2. Earth continuity test.
3. Polarity Test.
*Some equipment such as IT would take the alternative 200mA continuity test.
Performed at no extra cost:
Microwave Leakage checks to ensure radiation leakage is below the safety limits of 5mW/cm2
FLASH TESTING. This test is usually carried out following repair. Testing the Insulation Resistance at a much Higher AC Voltage.
